"Daddy, when I was a little girl, I used to chew on my hair."
"Zoe, you still chew on your hair. I have to tell you to stop several times a day."
Pause.
"Daddy, it's hard being four."
"Why?"
"Because you don't always know what you're not supposed to do."
"And maybe it's hard to remember the things you do know, right?"
Pause.
"But it's not hard being five?"
"No? Why not?"
"Because five is a big girl. It's not hard to be a big girl."
